Cork artist Oonah Hurley explores how life’s memories are reassembled in a fluid and non-linear way. Using old photographs, media images, and stills from old Super 8mm film for inspiration, she exploits the chance elements resulting from pouring and layering paint. A graduate of CIT Crawford College of Art & Design, Hurley has shown work in several Cork galleries since 2009. (1)
The images from the 'Memory' series were originally part of an installation made for an exhibition in Cork Mid Summer Festival 2011 by the artist. The paintings were completed on photographic paper mounted on to playing cards and displayed on a card table in the format of the game of Memory. Viewers were invited to wear gloves and to match 'pairs' by turning over two cards at a time.
